SNEAK PEEK AT
FRIDAY 13TH CORRIE
Here's Maria, Marcus and Todd at the Rovers. Little does Maria know what a viper Todd will turn out to be. Todd is already causing havoc for others - he's just knocked Sean for six by rejecting his advances. This Friday Todd reveals to his aunty Julie that her hubby Brian is accepting a teaching job in Wales which will ruin her plans to foster children. Todd is such a scheming manipulator.

I know some of the writers on Corrie are gay, so it astounds me that they make 2 out of 3 lead gay characters so one-dimensional. Are all gay men self-centred, nasty and vain like Todd and Sean? It seems incongruous that a nice boy like Marcus would be attracted to Todd - it will be an acting masterpiece for Charlie Condou to make it seem believable when the projected pairing of Todd and Marcus unfolds!

I think it's time the Corrie writers watched Aussie TV serial "House Husbands" which has some of the best representations of gay men running households parallel to their heterosexual counterparts - without falling into any clichéd drivel. In my opinion, it's time to get with the program, Corrie writers!

LAST NIGHT'S CORRIE
Brian tries to corner Marcus at Roy's Rolls so he can go on about his problems with Julie. Marcus has had enough of his prattle.
Marcus tells him, "Not now Brian, I've had the day from hell!" Todd eavesdrops on the conversation as Brian departs.
Todd slimes his way into sitting with Marcus.
Todd does his best to discover what's beeen going on with Brian.
Marcus tells him a little of the story and asks Todd not to share his news with anyone.
Todd leans over and suggests now they are at Roy's Rolls maybe Marcus might like one....a. roll that is!
Stunned look from Marcus!

TOM'S SECRET STASH
Presenting another set of pictures from my secret stash! Here is Rob James-Collier, Alison King and Charlie Condou rehearsing a scene from 2008. It was a child's funeral scene so the cast were in a sombre mood. Both shots remain commercially unissued.

DOOMED, I TELL YA!

Coronation Street's Samia Ghadie: 'I knew Maria and Marcus were doomed'
By Sophie Dainty
Coronation Street star Samia Ghadie had admitted that she is sad over co-star Charlie Condou's decision to leave the soap. The pair's characters Maria Connor and Marcus Dent are currently in a relationship on screen, but there is set to be trouble ahead as viewers will see Marcus fall for Todd in the New Year. Condou announced his upcoming Coronation Street departure last month, adding that his exit storyline would be exciting. Reflecting on the news, Ghadie said to Inside Soap: "He's lovely, he's so easy to work with - it will be strange not having him around. "Obviously I knew that Maria and Marcus wouldn't stay together, because Maria's love life never runs smoothly and Marcus is gay! "I knew they were doomed, so I knew that me and Charlie wouldn't be working closely forever. But I was really sad to hear that he was going." Ghadie also suggested that her character could reunite with former boyfriend Tyrone Hobbs. She said: "I really enjoyed her being with Tyrone. I think everyone fondly remembers Maria and Tyrone being together, which is nice. "You never know, they might get back together - stranger things have happened."
TittyOShea
TittyOShea: @Charliecondou @realsamia @digitalspybrk we ALL knew Maria and Marcus were doomed.

Charliecondou: @Rollissimo Do you want new set or old set? If old, then you'd better hurry up cos we leave next week

Rollissimo: @Charliecondou oh Flubberducks! I may have to do the new one as I'm stuck in London for a while..

Ghadie wants Maria back with Tyrone
Coronation Street star Samia Ghadie has revealed she wants her character Maria Connor to get back together with her childhood sweetheart Tyrone Dobbs. Maria is headed for more heartbreak in the New Year as gay boyfriend Marcus Dent is set to fall for Todd Grimshaw, with actor Charlie Condou, who plays Marcus, leaving the soap. Samia told Inside Soap: "I really enjoyed her being with Tyrone. I think everyone fondly remembers Maria and Tyrone being together, which is nice. "You never know, they might get back together - stranger things have happened." Maria entered the soap as Tyrone's love interest in 2000, but they called off their engagement two years later when Tyrone fell for Fiz Brown. Tyrone and Fiz have recently found love together again after both experiencing very difficult relationships. Samia also admitted she would miss working with Charlie. She said: "He's lovely, he's so easy to work with - it will be strange not having him around. "Obviously I knew that Maria and Marcus wouldn't stay together, because Maria's love life never runs smoothly and Marcus is gay! "I knew they were doomed, so I knew that me and Charlie wouldn't be working closely forever. But I was really sad to hear that he was going."

THAT INAPPROPRIATE MANDELA FUNERAL SELFIE
Barak Obama's speech paid tribute to a "giant of history". His symbolic handshake with Cuba's leader, Raul Castro, has been decades in the waiting. So why did the US President take part in a "funeral selfie" with the Danish Prime Minister? With a distinct lack of the decorum expected at a memorial service to the icon of the South African civil rights struggle, the US President giggled and playfully patted Helle Thorning- Schmidt as she lined up her smartphone camera for the now ubiquitous selfie. The selfie, so beloved of social media website users, unleashed a torrent of abuse on Twitter.
It did not appear to go down well with the First Lady either. Michelle Obama glowered from the other side of her husband as he cavorted with the Danish premier, who is married to Stephen Kinnock, son of the former Labour Party leader Lord Kinnock. The First Lady later managed to transplant herself between her husband and Ms Thorning-Schmidt. One image captured the froideur as Mrs Obama turned her shoulder on the blonde premier. Not that Britain's Prime Minister escaped scot-free from Selfie-Gate. David Cameron was also captured leaning in to Ms Thorning- Schmidt's mobile phone snap. One irate Twitter user posted: "I wonder if Neil Kinnock got an ulcer seeing his daughter-in-law do a selfie with David Cameron . . . at a memorial service." The Thorning-Schmidt snap will perhaps be regarded by historians as the point when selfies - loosely defined as a smartphone or webcam self-portrait uploaded to a social media website - overreached themselves. The Oxford University Press has pronounced selfie its word of the year. There is, however, an etiquette to selfies: funeral ones are particularly frowned upon.
The authors of a blog "Selfies at Funerals", which have documented the tasteless and bizarre self-portraits taken at funerals, decided after the Thorning-Schmidt snap that enough was enough. "Our work here is done. Thank you, world, and good night," its authors said. Mr Obama's selfie is not the only Mandela-related image to elicit ridicule. Mike Sonko, a senator for Nairobi, Kenya's capital, posted on his Facebook page hours after Mandela's death a picture of himself purportedly with the former South African President. Only one problem: it was a badly photoshopped image. The original featured Mandela with Muhammad Ali. Mr Sonko had inserted his image on top of Ali's. At least Obama, Cameron and Thorning-Schmidt have not had the temerity to do that . . . have they?
