CHAPTER TWO

'BEARLY EDUCATED'

Tourists, Ozziebear and Tommy Markstahler returned from their lunchtime cruise on Lake Constance arriving back at the resort's jetty about 4pm. It was a relaxing cruise but Oz constantly felt like he was being watched. Tommy kept reassuring Ozzie that he was just imagining things.

"Don't be silly Ozzie, nobody would be watching us!"

...Little did they know that the German authorities (Dr Moonglow and his assistant), were continuing to spy on them from the silent zeppelin above...

To round off their lovely day Ozzie and Tommy sat quietly at the resort watching something called a TV. On the TV was a story all about some man who had a wooden stick that was magic and every time he waved it, people would clap and music would play.

When Tommy fell asleep sitting in his chair, Ozzie explored around the room for some midnight snacks.
Ozzie was mighty hungry and he remembered that when they first arrived Tommy had looked in a little cold white box but had told Ozzie not to eat the packets of food and drink in it.
Tommy had said, "Don't touch this stuff - it's daylight robbery!"
But, Ozzie was sure now that it was no longer daylight, he could feast on all the stuff in the little cold white box...So he did!
It was delicious!
Seriously delicious!
Next morning, Oz woke early and decided he'd go for a quick dip in Lake Constance before Tommy got up.
The sunrise was glorious but it hurt Ozzie's eyes for some unknown reason!

Ozzie went to the shoreline only to discover that the resort staff hadn't quite filled the water up to the right level so he helped them by turning on the hose from the resort's tap.
"While the lake is filling, I might go look for breakfast," he thought.

Ozzie had heard about these luxury resorts where they had smörgåsbords but he never thought that the food would be so fresh!
There was a choice of brown duck or trout.

After brekky, Ozzie went looking for something to drink.
The night before, he had remembered hearing Tommy say the resort's barman served these delicious white drinks called 'fluffy ducks' but when Ozzie found the white fluffy ducks he didn't know where to stick the straw...
It all seemed too hard!

While he was sitting contemplating going back inside to wake poor old snoozing Tommy, Ozzie looked through the mist and could see a tiny speck of an island on the mid-horizon of Lake Constance.
"I don't remember seeing that yesterday," thought Ozzie as he scratched his head.

 Ozzie decided to shuffle quickly back to the resort and wake Tommy and ask him to take him out to the mysterious island he spotted.

"It's odd, it looks really, really odd," Ozzie kept saying to Tommy.
"It's a funny shape and a weird pink colour too..."

Tommy dashed down to the lobby, made some inquiries and purchased some tour tickets. He rushed back to the room, gathered Ozzie in his arms and off they went even before Tom had breakfasted.

"Tommy is very excited and eager about visiting this place," thought a slightly bemused Ozzie!

Ozzie asked Tommy a number of times, "Does this island have a name?"
But...For some reason, Tommy was a little bit quiet about its name...

Tom said something that didn't make much sense to Ozzie, "One day I will teach you to read...
One day when you are much older!"



What will Ozzie and Tom find on this mysterious shaped island???
