In Monday's Corrie, Marcus appears towards the end of Pt.1 where he's scoring at the Rovers. No, not THAT kind of scoring!

Marcus and Tyrone are playing darts while discussing what Christmas presents they are buying for their respective partners.

Marcus tells Tyrone to buy something that will make Fiz's face light up when she opens her box!

Marcus's sappy reply is that he'd like to change Maria's smile...because you can't enjoy a sunset once you've seen how beautiful it is...or some romantic guff like that...

Jason clutches his chest, "I think I'm gonna be sick!"

It was one of the strangest couplings ever when crimper Maria Connor and midwife, Marcus Dent got together in Coronation Street last year. Maria (Samia Ghadie) has always gone for precisely the wrong sort of bloke – First there was wife-beater Charlie Stubbs, then her cheating husband, Liam, followed by murderer Tony Gordon, but it was her attraction to Marcus which raised the most eyebrows. Marcus (Charlie Condou) was, unlike the majority of her previous lovers, kind, gentle, compassionate and understanding, making him seem like the perfect catch apart from one tiny little detail – he was gay! 

This did not deter Maria one little bit when she set her sights on him at the end of last year, despite both of them being in serious relationships with other people at the time. However, true love did indeed blossom, against all odds, that was until earlier this year when Charlie Condou who plays Marcus announced his decision to leave the show. Writers are planning to make Marcus rediscover his homosexuality when he falls for Todd Grimshaw in the New Year, paving the way for Condou’s exit, and according to Samia Ghadie, who plays Maria, she knew the relationship was doomed from the start! “Obviously I knew that Maria and Marcus wouldn’t stay together, because Maria’s love life never runs smoothly and Marcus is gay! “I knew they were doomed, so I knew that me and Charlie wouldn't be working closely forever. But I was really sad to hear that he was going.”
