Michelle Keegan on acting with Cheryl Cole: "She didn't need any tips"
Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan has praised Cheryl Cole's acting skills, saying she was a "natural" in front of the camera.
Cheryl will appear in the ITV1 soap this week as a childhood friend of Michelle's character Tina McIntyre, in a special episode filmed for this year's Text Santa charity appeal. "I was really excited when I found out that Cheryl Cole was going to be filming at Corrie," said Michelle. "She is someone I really admire and I have never met her properly so when I found out she was going to play Tina's friend I couldn't believe it.
"They say never meet your idols but she was amazing," Michelle continued. "She is such a huge Corrie fan and she was genuinely pleased to be filming with us. "I sat and chatted with her for ages which was lovely. She didn't need any tips from us all though, she was really good, a natural," she added. In the episode, Cheryl expects to be travelling home to Newcastle with Tina for her mum's Christmas party, but as we know in Corrie, nothing ever goes to plan! Cheryl will also be appearing in the sketch alongside soap regulars, Steve (Simon Gregson), Michelle (Kym Marsh), and Kirk (Andy Whyment). Michelle continued: "She [Cheryl] knew all her lines and she seemed to really enjoy herself. Malcolm Hebden who plays Norris made her laugh. She was great fun to have on set and I am really thrilled that Text Santa gave me the chance to work with her." Speaking about the soap, 'Fight For This Love' singer Cheryl, said: "It has always been part of my life, we'd all watch it as kids every night. It's surreal to be part of something I've watched my whole life. "It's great to be able to support six wonderful charities and I really hope that this year's appeal makes a difference to many lives." For Text Santa's charity appeal, Michelle will also join her co-stars Samia Ghadie, Alison King and Charlie Condou to perform a rendition of The Pogues' hit 'Fairytale of New York'. Michelle, who is engaged to former TOWIE hunk Mark Wright, is set to leave Corrie next year, when her character Tina will be killed off in an explosive exit.

Cheryl Cole comes to Weatherfield in a special sketch for Text Santa, which will be shown this Friday 20 December at 8pm on ITV.

GOVERNING STARTS NOW
randlight:  Bill Shorten has said “Tony Abbott should stop fighting the last election and start governing.”

And sure enough Bill Shorten and labor were blamed for $50b deficit
Opposition Leader Bill Shorten said he expected Labor to be blamed by the government for an anticipated 2013/14 budget deficit of $50 billion. When the midyear financial review was released on Tuesday, Bill's prediction rang true.
"Here is my prediction - the Abbott government will spend all of Tuesday blaming Labor for everything," Mr Shorten said. "But they are the government now. They have got to stop blaming everyone else. The buck stops with them. "They have got to start fighting for Aussie jobs and stop saying it is all Labor's fault and life is too hard."
Presenting the report card on his first 100 days in office on Sunday, Prime Minister Tony Abbott said the midyear economic and fiscal outlook (MYEFO) would show the extent of the coalition's inherited problems. "What I think we will see in MYEFO is the full extent of Labor's profligacy but the job of the MYEFO statement is to rule a line under Labor's era of debt and deficit so that henceforth from this time on the government can begin the fiscal repair job that our country needs," Mr Abbott said. But Mr Shorten said the government had set a spending "land-speed record" in its first 100 days in power. "We are seeing a deficit which is predicted to be the biggest in Australia's Commonwealth history," Mr Shorten said. "They have set a record for opening the door on more government debt and increasing the deficit."
TheKouk: For the record, the Howard Govt left Labor with $50 billion of gross debt." #auspol #auscon #economy #LNPlies
