Langford on Soaps: Coronation Street's Marcus Cheats on Aiden... with Maria!

Life is about to get very messy for Corrie’s Marcus…

Things are about to get very complicated for Coronation Street’s Marcus, played by out gay actor Charlie Condou. As revealed in the spoilers this week, Marcus and Maria’s platonic friendship turns romantic when the two of them kiss. Well, Maria kisses Marcus first, but Marcus responds. Afterwards, the two vow to forget the moment and focus on their respective couplings: Maria with Jason and Marcus with Aiden. But Condou tells All About Soap that the moment isn’t so easily forgotten.

“He’s trying to forget about it, but he can’t.” Condou said. “Every time he sees Maria with Jason he feels uncomfortable. And he realizes he’s forcing his relationship with Aiden.”

So what does this mean? Marcus has no doubt that he’s gay, but is this going to cause him to question his sexuality?

“In Marcus’ head because he’s gay, it must be that he and Maria got carried away in the moment.” Condou explains. “However as time goes on, he begins to realize there is more between them. But that makes it more confusing because he starts to wonder who he is.”

And over the next few months, Marcus and Maria will come terms with their feelings for each other and decide to embark on a romantic relationship. But can Marcus change who he is, even if he loves Maria? Stay tuned…
