Soaps in the UK are famous for their iconic pubs and none more so than that of The Rovers Return which is home to long running soap Coronation Street. That iconic pub is set to burn to the ground in a huge storyline that will see one cast member perish and various other stars risk their lives trying to save those trapped inside. Creators of the show wish to turn the pub into something bigger and better. Sketches of the new building reveal an extra window on the front of the pub indicating it will be increasing in size. It was revealed last week across the internet as to how the pub was to become a blazing inferno and that it would involve pub landlady Stella Price (Michelle Collins) who had her marriage torn apart after Sunita Alahan (Shobna Gulati) had an affair with Karl Munro (John Michie). An insider for the soap said: “Even Sunita becoming a victim can’t stop people pointing the finger. But if they’re wrong then the real arsonist will still be at large.”
BRITISH ISLES SHOW NAMES ITS STAR GUEST
There is less than a month to go until the revived British Isles Show opens its doors. The show took a hiatus for a couple of years while organizers sought a new location and revamped its organization. But now it's back and it promises to to be better than ever.
Free parking
The show will be held over the weekend of 8-10 March at a new venue - the International Centre in Mississauga. The International Centre is located at Derry and Airport roads near Toronto's Pearson Airport and is easily accessible from anywhere in southern Ontario due to its proximity to major highways. But, best of all, parking is free - that's a big bonus for the majority of visitors who arrive by car and were used to paying high parking charges at the show's previous location downtown.
Who is the Star Guest?
A major draw for crowds attending the show has always been the visit of a guest star from ITV's Coronation Street. This year is no exception. The visitor in 2013 will be actor Charlie Condou who plays Marcus Dent on the show. Marcus has been a controversial character on Coronation Street. He is the former gay partner of Sean Tully who has recently changed his stripes and formed a heterosexual relationship with Maria Connor. In real life Charlie Condou lives with his male partner Canadian Cameron Laux. Condou is a same-sex parenting advocate and splits his time between his native London and Manchester where Coronation Street is filmed.
