Coronation Street actor Charlie Condou, who plays Marcus Dent, has spoken about his hope that his character will one day become a father. Condou has spoken to the Radio Times about his recent storyline of falling in love with Maria Connor (Samia Ghadie) despite having had a gay relationship with Rovers Return barman Sean Tully (Antony Cotton). Asked whether him and Maria could have a baby, he said: “I think he’d love to, but obviously it’s early days for them.” He went on to say that some fans were still finding it difficult to deal with as Marcus had always been gay in the show. Marcus first appeared on the street in 2007 but departed a year later. He returned in 2011 to rekindle his romance with Sean.

Coronation Street actor urges LGBT community to get involved with London’s gay pride

The organisers of this year’s London gay pride are appealing for people to get involved with planning and delivering the festival and have enlisted the help of gay Coronation Street actor Charlie Condou.
London LGBT+ Community Pride is looking urgently for people who can manage and liaise with businesses and residents along the parade route, in Soho and other festival locations, or who want to work as stewards on the day. Pride also require designers, performers and fundraisers. The main parade day is on Saturday 29 June. The group is also seeking nominations for seats on the Community Advisory Board. Nominations close on 21 February. Chair of London LGBT+ Community Pride Michael Salter said: “We’re looking for people with all kinds of skills and experience to help make Pride in London a roaring success. Just visit the Get Involved page on our website to find out more and register for the open meeting at Heaven on 19 February. “All the volunteers on the Board and Executive are investing their time and energy because we want to give London the truly incredible Pride it deserves. We’re committed to delivering a Pride of, by and for the entire LGBT+ community. Now Your Pride Needs You – because working together, we can make a huge impact on the whole of the city and give ourselves and London the Pride we deserve.”
