GEORGE [HOUSE TRUST] SAYS
‘To LGBT Russia, with love’

Manchester Pride 2013 ended on a poignant note with the George House Trust Candlelit Vigil at Sackville Gardens on Monday night. The area was transformed into a sea of flickering candles as attendees stood in silence to remember those who have lost their lives to the HIV virus. The ‘spiritual heart’ of the festival also offered people a chance to stand in solidarity with St Petersburg’s LGBT community which is facing legislation to restrict gay rights. Coronation Street star Charlie Condou led the vigil and invited the crowd to shout: “To LGBT Russia with Love!”
Malcolm Macleod travelled from Edinburgh to attend Manchester Pride, he tweeted: “Manchester candle lit vigil for all the people who suffered from HIV. Heartbreaking and cried like a baby at it.” Jill Bentley tweeted: "So moving and inspiring "TO LGBT RUSSIA WITH LOVE" [sic] Candle light Vigil Manchester Pride 2013." The vigil marks the end of a month-long celebration of LGBT culture which has seen thousands of people flock to the city centre to take part in the bank holiday celebrations. Celebrity supporters including Christopher Biggins and the cast of Coronation Street, who travelled in the parade on a Rovers return-themed float, attended the three-day festivities. This year’s parade theme, Acceptable in the 80s, reflected the struggle of the LGBT community during the decade, while the sight of leg warmers and Frankie Say Relax t-shirts showed that this was also a celebration of the music and fashion of the time.

Ben & Jerry’s:
German Cows Against Putin!
The German Facebook page for Ben & Jerry’s Ice-cream has posted an image of one of their iconic cows protesting against Russia’s President Putin, adding to their continued support of LGBT rights worldwide.
It is interesting to note, however, that this image is only available on the Ben & Jerry’s Facebook page for Germany, and has not (yet) been featured on any of the company’s English-language pages. Nevertheless, the bovine activist has gone viral, with messages of support flying in from Facebook users. Ben & Jerry’s is no stranger to supporting gay rights, and closer to home, their Irish offices launched their EngageMint Party campaign in association with the group MarriagEquality, calling on Ireland to introduce same-sex marriage. The Vermont-based company have also run similar campaigns in the U.S. and UK in the past.

SLIGHTLY PSYCHIC SUNDAY
For those who revisit this blog you'll already know that I have a psychic connection to some people on Twitter - nothing major, just little things which come out of the blue and often at odd times. It's not some trick I can turn on and off. Here is one such occurrence that happened this week with my Twitter follower, Jonesy:
SirThomasWynne: @badjonesyinc Hi son, your ornamental cherry tree popped into my thoughts the other day. Hope it's still going well.
badjonesyinc: @SirThomasWynne it's doing fine. Looks very healthy but hasn't flowered this year, maybe next? Cx
SirThomasWynne: @badjonesyinc I had a day where that tree, you having lunch at a pub and a trip on a country road came as visions - one after the other?
badjonesyinc: @SirThomasWynne sounds like Sunday? Lunch at pub, trip down country roads with roof off car and then home, car parked near new tree? Cx
SirThomasWynne: @badjonesyinc the bit about roof open didn't fit in tweet but that was part of it.
SirThomasWynne: @badjonesyinc I was in the middle of making tea when all this stuff came in.... I was making a shepherds pie and sipping vino last Sunday night.
badjonesyinc: @SirThomasWynne oh, was it a good pie? Cx
SirThomasWynne: @badjonesyinc yep with crispy topping of cheese and potato baked in a layer arrangement.... tres yum X

OZ MINISTER OF
DUMBING DOWN
ByronStol: So depressing when you see a potential PM releasing education policy at a private school that brainwashes kids about homosexuality. FFS
SirThomasWynne: @ByronStol Byron there is an old saying 'ye shall reap what ye shall sow' and Tony Abbott is deff a so-and-so....!
SirThomasWynne: I just emailed the Penrith Christian School where @TonyAbbottMHR released his policy for Education. In no uncertain terms I condemned both.
Daithi_Eochaidh: @SirThomasWynne @TonyAbbottMHR to quote the kidnapper in "Taken".... "Good Luck"
SirThomasWynne: Dear villagers is someone missing?
