Coronation Street’s Charlie Condou has started off 2013 with a bang – he’s just signed another 2 year contract to stay on the cobbles.

The actor, who plays Marcus Dent in the soap verified his new contract on Twitter (see below), telling fans: “Thanks for messages today, I'm obviously very pleased to have signed my new Corrie contract. Lots of stories planned.”

It’s a great scoop to land a multi-year contract on a show right now, with many soaps only dishing out single year contracts in 2012.

Charlie actually left Coronation Street back in 2008, but reprised his role in 2011
