MY FIRST GRANDSON WAS BORN TODAY

My wife and I are pleased to announce the safe arrival of our second grandchild, being already blessed with a granddaughter 2 years prior.

This little fella caused his mother numerous problems:

He was a conceived as part of a set of rare twins that consisted of eggs fertilized some 3 to 4 weeks apart. Sadly, one of the embryos was absorbed by mum's body and didn't make it.

Then our daughter went straight into gestational diabetes and severe high blood pressure for the first part of the pregnancy and was bedridden with preeclampsia for the last 2 months.

But miracles do happen and this little bloke arrived at 4.20pm today.

His second name is Thomas - a good choice if you ask me!

He weighed 7lbs 2 oz. He is 41 cm long. (Don't ask me why we got metric and imperial measurements - it's just what the hospital issued!)

He had to be delivered through caesarean section due to other complications but all looks good at this stage.

He was speaking (gurgling) to me from the hospital, via phone, earlier tonight.

His dad is relieved that his new son has all the right massive bits.

Mum is doing OK and granddaughter can't wait to see him again.

Another little Aussie is ready to enjoy Australia Day 26th Jan.
