Ray and Emma Dolben seem your average, happily married couple. But the truth is the family man is GAY — and his wife knows about it. The pair’s unusual relationship mirrors a current storyline in Coronation Street. The cobbles are being rocked by crimper Maria Connor having a steamy relationship with her gay best friend Marcus Dent. For Marcus, played by Charlie Condou, the relationship he is in with Maria (Samia Ghadie) is his first heterosexual relationship. In a similar scenario, Emma fell for work colleague Ray — but after discovering he was gay she was happy to be friends. But months later, the pair shared a one-night stand, which was Ray’s first tryst with a woman. The couple faced difficulties with unkind comments and inner turmoil from Ray as he told Emma he was definitely gay, did not fancy her and broke the relationship off. But Ray, 22, realised Emma was his soul mate and he asked her out again. The pair share a sexual relationship and are so happy together they tied the knot last year. They now have a son and are expecting their second child…Ray believes that, although he is gay and Emma is straight, the couple were meant to be together.
