Katherine Kelly (Becky) and Charlie Condou (Marcus) took some time out from Coronation Street recently to visit Father Christmas in Lapland.
They were there with the charity When You Wish Upon a Star, to help brave children have a Christmas to remember. Jacob Bleasdale and Phoebe Iddon have both suffered from serious illness for most of their lives, and they joined other sick and disabled children for a day-long visit to Lapland and enjoyed husky and reindeer sledging, and a meeting with Father Christmas.
Jacob said, "I enjoyed everything especially playing in the snow in the forest. It was fantastic day," and Phoebe added, "It was the perfect start to Christmas, and I made many friends. It was just magical." Jacob's mum, Christine said: "The trip was magical, there is no other way to describe it. The television stars were fantastic."
Katherine Kelly has been involved with When You Wish Upon a Star previously. Find out more about the charity by clicking here.
Katherine Kelly makes 'Coronation Street' exit
Published Saturday, Dec 10 2011,
Katherine Kelly has finished filming on Coronation Street. The actress, who announced her decision to leave the show earlier this year, shot her final scenes as Becky McDonald today (December 9, 2011). Kelly took to Twitter this morning to tell fans: "Last day filming on the cobbles..." She returned to the micro-blogging site in the evening to announce: "It is done. Becky has left the Street! I hope you enjoy the departure Corrie viewers. Final eps on screen Mid Jan. Enjoy! It's all for you x" Fellow Corrie star Paula Lane, who plays Becky's half-sister Kylie Platt, expressed her sadness at Kelly's departure from the soap. "Filming some very emotional scenes today with my on screen big sis @katherine_kelly," she tweeted. "Everyone is gonna miss her so much :-("
Earlier this week, details were revealed of an emotional scene outside a hotel between Becky and Steve (Simon Gregson), which forms part of the final chapter in the ongoing love triangle between the two characters and Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford). Becky is also rumoured to be involved in dramatic scenes in this year's Christmas Day episode.
Speaking of her choice to leave the show, Kelly previously said: "It's been one of the hardest decisions of my life. "I love Coronation Street and everyone here. I have had the most blissful five years, I wouldn't change one moment of it - but it feels like the time is right to say goodbye to Becky."

Charlie Condou meantime has signed on until March 2013. His role as Marcus has been a particular fan favourite all around the world from Australia to Canada and Charlie seems to be more popular than ever. He's only a month away from becoming a dad for the second time and his career security is a welcome relief for his family.
