Manchester Pride is officially here and MM are on scene at Canal Street for all the latest news and gossip.
We caught up with Coronation Street’s Charlie Condou, who plays Marcus Dent, partner of the street’s loveable Sean Tully (Anthony Cotton).
This is officially Charlie’s first Manchester Pride and, although he’s been to many a Pride festival, Manchester’s reputation for being the best in the country has him very excited.
“Manchester pride is truly great because it’s a charity and over the years it’s managed to raise £800,095 for various pride and HIV charities,” he said.
“They've really got it right here, it’s a very community based event.”
Marcus plans to enjoy the whole weekend and show his support for the cause and, like many, hopes that the festival can finally hit that £1m mark.
Coronation Street and ITV are also strong supporters of the cause have been a regular occurrence at the festival for many years.
This year is no different, as once again they will be boarding a float for this years Blighty themed parade (for Americans this translated means a 'Best of British' theme).
Despite attempts to squeeze some hints about this year’s float, Marcus remained tight lipped about it with just a small comment.
“I have seen it and it’s very different from the previous one, it’s big, bold and rainbow coloured.”
This year’s parade is led by the legendary Pam Ann and commences from 1pm tomorrow, starting at Deansgate and working its way to Canal St
