Corrie star Charlie Condou to speak about being gay dad at work summit

Stonewall conference promotes good practice around sexual orientation in workplace

Coronation Street star Charlie Condou is set to speak about being a gay dad at a summit about gay workplace rights. Condou, who plays a bisexual character in Britain's longest-running TV soap, will be a keynote speaker at Stonewall’s Workplace Conference in Manchester, north west England on 14 June. He lives with his Canadian boyfriend, Cameron Laux, but is a hands-on dad for his daughter and son, Georgia and Hal, who split their time between him and their mother, the actress Catherine Kanter. The children were conceived through IVF treatment. Stonewall is the UK's leading lesbian, gay and bisexual rights organization while Condou was named 'Man of the Year' by British gay mag Attitude last year (2012). Condou will also be speaking on his personal experience of being an openly out gay man in the media sector, the fair representation of LGB people in the media, and on being a role model for young gays and bisexuals. The conference promotes good practice around sexual orientation in the workplace and 120 delegates attended the inaugural conference last year. Other key note speakers at the conference include Steph Morgan of Leicestershire Police, Paul Flowers from the Co-operative Group, and Rob Hawthorn from Barclays. Leicestershire Police, the Co-operative and Barclays all appear on Stonewall’s 2013 Top 100 list of gay-friendly employers in Britain.
