Coronation Street: Marcus Dent leaves Weatherfield

Coronation Street airs Marcus Dent's exit scenes next week as he leaves Weatherfield for a fresh start. Marcus departs the cobbles after his relationship with manipulative Todd Grimshaw ends badly. As we've previously reported, fans can expect a showdown this fortnight as Marcus catches Todd with another man - causing him to see the schemer's true colours at last. Afterwards, Marcus realises that there isn't much keeping him in Weatherfield, so he confides in his ex-girlfriend Maria Connor (Samia Ghadie) that it's time for him to go. Despite their own acrimonious history, Marcus and Maria agree to part as friends as he leaves the street for pastures new.

Charlie Condou, who played Marcus, announced his departure from the show in November last year and had his last day on set in May.
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, July 14 at 7.30pm on ITV.

GOODBYE MARCUS
Marcus has made his bed and is going to have to lie in it, when he discovers how much of a nasty little piece of work boyfriend Todd really is. He ditched loving girlfriend Maria to once again explore the other side of his sexuality when he got together with Todd behind her back – but despite pleas from his friends and neighbours to wake up and realise what a mistake he’d made, Marcus was determined to see the best in his beau. Well, that is, until now. After a blazing row about Marcus meeting up with little Liam without telling Todd, he decides to get his own back. “He gives him a really hard time. It’s all a little bit out of proportion, and Marcus feels terrible because he’s not someone who lies. And Todd just doesn't let him off the hook,” Charlie Condou, who plays Marcus in Corrie, explained.
Charlie added: “He also decides it’s the perfect excuse for him to go off and play around behind Marcus’ back.” Picking up a guy called Johnny, Todd brings him back to Weatherfield, and makes sure all the neighbours see them kissing – including Marcus. “Todd shows absolutely no remorse at all, he’s completely unashamed, flaunting Johnny in public. “Marcus comes round the corner and sees Todd and this guy Johnny together, and sees them kissing. And suddenly it all falls into place. Marcus goes nuts and goes for Todd.” And with it becoming increasingly clear his boyfriend is a bad 'un, it seems Marcus may begin to question his future in Weatherfield. “I think this could definitely be the end of the road for Marcus. I think he feels there’s nothing left for him in Coronation Street, there’s nothing there for him anymore and it’s time for him to move on to pastures new.”
