CHARLIE CONDOU - No.934

SPARKS FLEW LAST NIGHT WHEN MARCUS CONFRONTED TODD OVER HIS ACTIONS

In the previous episode of Corrie, Julie was devastated when she discovered Brian had accepted a teaching position in Wales, crushing her hopes of having foster children. Todd had let aunty Julie know that uncle Brian had been consulting Marcus along the way rather than speaking to her.

In Friday night's Corrie, the first scene for Marcus was at Audrey's salon. Marcus and Maria were helping little Liam make a Roman sword out of tinfoil which was nicked from the shop's supply cupboard.

On exiting the salon, they spied Todd sauntering down the cobbles. Marcus vowed to confront Todd when he had a chance. Todd had implicated Marcus a little too much! Maria tells Marcus not to get too involved with Todd....
Why doesn't he listen, you ask?

The second scene with Marcus is set later that day at Todd's workplace.
Marcus did a lot of snarling....

...spitting...
...shouting...

...and staring with daggers!
By the end of this scene though, Marcus had been placated by Todd who has used a lot of rapid-fire sweet talking to convince Marcus he was doing something good for his aunty and uncle by letting the cat out of the bag.
Marcus seemed to swallow all of Todd's charm and snake-oil.
For me personally, one moment that just didn't seem convincing was when Todd (Bruno Langley) snapped his fingers and called Marcus (Charlie Condou) "girlfriend"...it seemed really out of place in the scene...

The third scene for Marcus was in the second half of Corrie, when he told Maria what had happened.

Still, she tells Marcus not to give Todd the time of day....
For God's sake Marcus why didn't you listen to her?

One of the things that Todd had said to Marcus keeps popping into Marcus's thoughts, "Taking on someone else's child is a massive responsibility." It appears Marcus is beginning to question what impact his life with Maria may have on little Liam.

The fourth scene for Marcus is set at the Rovers. Todd, Julie, Maria and Marcus are seated together. Julie is in floods of tears about what has happened between her and Brian.  

Sean interrupts everyone in his usual manner and brings about even more tears.
