MARCUS AND MARIA
Coronation Street Spoilers: When Marcus Dent tells his friends that he's “a gay man who fell for a woman” can Maria get over her hurt?
In the episode of Corrie that airs on Monday, June 3, when Marcus Dent (Charlie Condou) receives an invitation to the wedding of his old pals – as does Sean Tully – he fails to mention it to his girlfriend, Maria Connor…And when Sean (Antony Cotton) pulls Marcus up about why he hasn't told Maria (Samia Ghadie) Marcus tells him that he’s embarrassed to tell his gay friends that he’s with a woman now. However, in the episode that airs on Wednesday, June 5, when Sean lets slip about the wedding in front of Maria, she wants to know why Marcus hasn't mentioned it to her… So, feeling that he has no choice, in the episode that airs on Friday, June 7, Marcus and Maria go to the wedding, but it quickly becomes evident that none of his friends have any idea that he’s now with Maria!
Hurt by the fact Marcus clearly didn't want to admit that she’s his partner, Maria wonders if he’s ashamed of her. Marcus assures her that’s not the case, but when he explains to his friends that he’s still “a gay man who happened to fall in love with a woman,” Maria’s appalled. We’ll be left wondering if Maria can move past Marcus’s remark, or if it will destroy their relationship…
For now though, here’s a reminder of the pair in the early days of their romance…
