CHARLIE AND CAM ARE MIAMI BOUND

Charlie Condou and partner Cameron Laux are heading to Miami Florida USA . . .

While Charlie's in-transit, I thought this would give me an opportunity to show you where I live and also how it compares to where Charlie and Cam are going.

I live on the south side of Port Stephens which is a large naturally occurring sandy-bottomed bay near Newcastle NSW. Miami is a man-made harbour which is slowly being reclaimed from the sea like Holland. Miami is close to the Everglades and other swampy marsh land whereas Port Stephens is the exit for the Myal Lakes. Port Stephens has very few skyscrapers due to building code restrictions whereas Miami is choc full of retirement condos. Both places are favourites of the retirement and superannuation set.

Port Stephens and Miami are equidistant from the equator and share similar climates but we don't have alligators. Our Australian equivalent, the crocodile, is found hundreds of miles closer to the equator in Queensland and Northern Territory. Miami has sea-snakes, water-moccasins and other deadly snakes whereas I have never spotted a snake in the wild in 55 years...or a shark! But we do get whales in the harbour and dolphins.
