Tom Daley looks set to win his first gay award at Britain’s ‘Gay Oscars’ this April. The bisexual diver is currently way ahead of the rest of the field in the race to be named Sports Personality of the Year at the event. And morning TV host Lorraine Kelly is tipped to be crowned nation’s favorite straight ally. But there is still everything to play for and it’s now the last chance to choose your heroes. Voting for the Out In The City and G3 Magazine Awards, dubbed Britain’s ‘Gay Oscars’, closes on Tuesday (25 March).
The star-studded bash, hosted by Corrie soap star Charlie Condou, will take place at London’s swanky Landmark Hotel on 25 April. TV Chatty Man Alan Carr, Graham Norton, Paul O’Grady and Great British Bake Off presenter Sue Perkins are all vying for the Broadcaster of the Year accolade.
Controversial Queens Park Rangers footballer Joey Barton, Strictly Come Dancing hunk Ben Cohen and Daybreak’s Lorraine Kelly will all go head to head for the Straight Ally award. While Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Elton John and 80’s pop legend, Frankie Goes to Hollywood star, Holly Johnson, are set to be recognized with lifetime achievement honors.
Condou said: ‘A huge number of votes have already been cast but there is still time to people to support their favorites. The Out In The City and G3 awards will be the glitziest gay event of the year.’
