ARE
THE REAL FAKES!
The Sun headlines scream: Corrie stars hit out after Channel 4 broadcast footage of colleagues accepting gifts and tweeting about them on UK Channel 4's show "Celebs, Brands And Fake Fans."
A variety of Corrie starlets were invited to a fake product launch instigated by the Channel 4 Dispatches program. The stars were filmed in secret with hidden cameras. The reporters then recorded tweets from the stars who said thank you for the free items. The story amounted to nothing more than a puff-piece involving the lowest form of journalism. The stars involved did what any other personalities would have done - if asked to a launch of a product and given free samples!
I wonder when will the C4 crew report on actors at the Academy Awards for accepting their gift bags for showing up to the event! Or the free drinks, meals and paraphernalia given to various musos and politicians for attending civic functions! Can't wait for the dramatic music and shocked voice-overs talking us through the shame and depravity of such outrageous goings on!
On the night this happened, I was monitoring and blogging the Twitter output from the Corrie team (which you can read on a previous post). The general public also agreed via Twitter that it was a travesty in reporting!
Not only did the C4 show amount to little more than low-grade TV popcorn but then The Sun newspaper tried to turn this into a story by running headlines claiming that cast members were outraged and had gone into defence mode to sure up their colleagues. What a load of #$@^# journalism from The Sun - a newspaper beat-up over a non-issue created by a TV Channel who have become famous for making all the wrong moves.

THE WOLVIS FAMILY [1991]
A television studio. Six chairs. A Table. A jug of water. A family therapist. And six characters who don't necessarily want to be helped. Television history is made as the Wolvis Family embarks on six harrowing weeks of self-discovery in front of the cameras. "The Royle Family" was not the first comedy to have six characters in one room with a camera!
The morbidly amusing British comedy series The Wolvis Family was presented in mock-documentary fashion. After their son inexplicably stops talking, the six members of the dysfunctional Wolvis family agree to participate in an extended group therapy session. However, it may have been a mistake for the Wolvis family to submit to having their therapy televised by the BBC. Those who feel that The Osbournes TV reality series was the ultra airing one's dirty laundry in public are advised to seek out this fictional but disturbingly convincing six-part British endeavor.
