Over 200 delegates from major British employers attending last Friday's Stonewall Workplace Conference in Manchester heard from inspirational speakers including Coronation Street actor Charlie Condou and Leicestershire Police Assistant Chief Constable Steph Morgan. ITV, the British Army, Accenture, the Co-operative and Ernst & Young were among the employers sharing best practice at the Conference, which was supported by Barclays.
During his speech about being a gay man working in the media, Charlie Condou, said: “If I’d seen gay role models back in my teens, those years would have been very different. Thank god gay teens today can see dozens of different pictures of gay adulthood, letting them know they can be whoever they want to be – just like their straight friends. It’s not perfect, but we’re getting there.”

Marcus is gay, but just as 'straight' people can turn gay, it can also work in reverse. Love doesn't respect boundaries. The sex of the person isn't the defining factor. It's the person themselves, and these two have got such a lot in common they'd make a lovely couple, but knowing Maria's luck with men it won't end well, will it?

Lolitä: Not sure about the origin of Condou, I'll have a look around. It sounds very European. He looks very South Asian to me, it's more the facial structure than the colouring, he has very Mediterranean colouring. He's probably not even remotely Asian, often mixtures of things can create an effect of a completely different racial look. It's only subtle, but it still struck me. My dad's South Asian, and whilst I look bugger-all like Marcus, some of my Pakistani relatives have also married and had kids with white partners, and quite a few of them have a "look" similar to the one I see in Marcus. I guess it's down to chance. But he definitely doesn't look absolutely 100% white to me. He's a nice-looking bloke, wherever he's from.
