ONE AFTER 909
This Beatle track from 1957-8 is one of the earliest tracks credited to the Lennon-McCartney songwriting team but was not officially released until towards the end of the group's existence some 10 years later.

The following set of Digital Spy Forum responses are from people re the withdrawal of ITV Coronation Street episodes from YouTube.

ITV Banning Soaps From YouTube

Shane Parrish I think ITV banning all episode clips from Coronation Street and Eastenders has put me off watching soaps. At least the BBC can have some clips on You Tube.

LucyLock I think ITV must delete them because ITV has its catchup player.

Thumbolina TVCatchup has gone too. It was so useful when I missed a programme and they kept the adverts in so there shouldn't have been a problem. If only ITV catchup worked properly ...

ERanger95 when ever you put clips of corrie on youtube, they ban it and say its copyright! I used to love watching the corrie bloopers but all of a sudden they're gone

SparkleBabe The X Factor had its own official Youtube channel so you could watch clips on that. But I assume thats because it was made by Simon Cowell's own production company rather than ITV productions. They are removing clips of Dancing On Ice as well, and people who post clips are being banned. Its pretty daft as the BBC are perfectly happy to embrace YT, and they also have a catch up service. I cannot see why like the Beeb, ITV cannot start their own YT channel? They are gonna get left behind so they need to pull their fingers out. People would not need to upload illegally if they embraced Youtube as other broadcasters have.

Brekkie ITV have more to gain than lose though by allowing clips on YouTube. Firstly it acts as promotion, and secondly it shows respect to the fans. I can understand why they object to full episodes, but IMO if they want to stop people uploading clips to YouTube they should offer their own equivalent on itv.com where users can upload the clips of ITV programmes they want, not be stuck with the clips ITV want you to see.

mistri ITV/BBC are perfectly within their rights to stop their intellectual property being put up on Youtube.

TheLastDrop I totally disagree. If the content was being used, to make money (being used in a commercial environment), then I would understand why ITV would be p*ssed. But it isn't - and it isn't as if these clips are made available by the copyright holder, and even when it is ('ITV Catchup'), it doesn't work properly. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying, it is OK to pirate, but what I am saying is, I am OK with 'shared' material, providing the sharer isn't making money, and neither is the copyright holder losing out on money.

mistri *You* are okay with it - and in fact I am too, but I also respect that as the copyright holder it is ITV's right to control how its IP is distributed. I think clips on youtube can actually create a bit more buzz for a show - and get more eyes on it. But also, clips on youtube are edited and often not great quality - these are other reasons than money for not wanting them to go up there. Though if the show comes across badly, then that could affect revenues.

humbug83 BBC is being banned too.

lumpbottom What makes me laugh is those silly fan videos made by kids that are chopped about and music added. They actually put on it that it 'is not intended to infringe copyright' If that isn't an admission of guilt, what is? They might as well just send ITV the thousands they can sue for.

x-KissKiss-x I wondered where those really old corrie eps went...shame

havanemone It's annoying, but they have every right to remove their clips... and there is nothing we can do about it...In a way I think it's part of youtube's charm, just like the bad quality of some of the vids, we still watch them though! And I like the fact that nobody does it in order to make money (as others have said) - it's all for the fans...

upsykimsy I first started watching hollyoaks as a result of watching a clip on youtube. Before hand, i had this preconception that it was just a load of rubbish. Can't itv and bbc see that the fans are marketing the show in a way? I understand the fors and against in this argument, but as people have pointed out. Youtube is not for profit. I recently found the first ever eastenders episode online, sat down and watched it with my partner. It's also teaching people about past and present characters, and the teaser trailers are a good way to get peoples attention.

Imogen M YouTube was great back in the day but I knew the Google take over would be the beginning of the end. It's been pointless since then as a resource for things like this. BBC have recently removed an entire bucket load of great classic EE clips. I guess now they have their official EE channel, they're cracking down as well. So it's not just ITV. I know all about copyright and rights and wrongs so I'm not going to get whiny about it...but it's still a shame there's no easier way to access so many great classic clips and scenes.

MY OWN TAKE ON THIS SITUATION:

I cannot view any UK videos issued on ITV Player as the world is cut into TV zones and shows from the UK don't play outside the UK zone. There is no alternative offered by ITV which works in Australia. YouTube *was* the only way of keeping up to date.

For nearly 3 years this blog has promoted Coronation Street along with Charlie Condou, other actors, staff and crew associated with the show because I was able to embed YouTube clips for fans to see and discuss.

Sadly, I've waited a long time for Charlie Condou to get more prominent storylines in Corrie (which are about to screen soon), and now I can't embed any clips of his forthcoming work or issue screencaps of him in action. Coronation Street fans worldwide will be the real losers - Tom.

Advice columnist gives perfect response to anti-gay parent

A parent who has forgotten their 17-year-old gay son's birthday for the past three years is looking for advice on how their teen can 'stop' being gay. Check out the amazing response

19 NOVEMBER 2013 BY JOE MORGAN

An advice columnist has delivered the most perfect response to a homophobic parent. Amy Dickinson, who writes a syndicated advice column, has written back to the parent who wants their son to 'stop' being gay – and it is amazing. Not only has this mother or father forgotten their son’s birthday for the past three years (they have a busy work schedule), they want their 17-year-old to make the ‘reasonable’ choice to be stop being gay. Check out the letter from the parent and Dickinson’s response below:

Dear Amy:

I recently discovered that my son, who is 17, is a homosexual. We are part of a church group and I fear that if people in that group find out they will make fun of me for having a gay child. He won’t listen to reason, and he will not stop being gay. I feel as if he is doing this just to get back at me for forgetting his birthday for the past three years - I have a busy work schedule. Please help him make the right choice in life by not being gay. He won’t listen to me, so maybe he will listen to you.

- Feeling Betrayed

Dear Betrayed:

You could teach your son an important lesson by changing your sexuality to show him how easy it is. Try it for the next year or so: Stop being a heterosexual to demonstrate to your son that a person’s sexuality is a matter of choice – to be dictated by one’s parents, the parents’ church and social pressure. I assume that my suggestion will evoke a reaction that your sexuality is at the core of who you are. The same is true for your son. He has a right to be accepted by his parents for being exactly who he is. When you ‘forget’ a child’s birthday, you are basically negating him as a person. It is as if your saying that you have forgotten his presence in the world. How very sad for him. Pressuring your son to change his sexuality is wrong. If you cannot learn to accept him as he is, it might be safest for him to live elsewhere. A group that could help you and your family figure out how to navigate this is PFLAG.org. This organization is founded for parents, families, friends and allies of LGBT people, and has helped countless families through this challenge. Please research and connect with a local chapter.

- Amy
