Charlie's Marcus Dent could make a Corrie comeback
By Ed Gleave/
CORONATION Street star Charlie Condou last night gave a big hint he will return to the soap in the future.
GONE BUT NOT FOREVER: Charlie's character will leave the show tomorrow night but might return in the future

Fans will see him leave Weatherfield tomorrow night in emotional scenes after finding out lover Todd Grimshaw has cheated. But Charlie, who has played Marcus Dent for seven years, is thrilled bosses have not killed him off. Charlie, 41, said: “The producers agreed to leave the door open for me. “They were really lovely to do that. So who knows what might happen in the future? It’s definitely nice to know the option is there for me to go back. “I have had the best time working on the show and it’ll be sad not to be part of it.” Dad-of-two Charlie first quit the Street in 2008 – but returned three years later. He said: “I’d been at Corrie for four years and wanted to try other things. I’ve always wanted to do that rather than staying on the show for years and years. “Having said that, it is nerve-racking leaving a steady acting job.” This time, Charlie has quit to pursue other telly roles. He said: “I made the decision to go a long time ago. I chatted with one of the producers and it felt like it had been a long time coming. “They asked if I’d stay for an extra few months so they could work on a good exit storyline and I did.” Charlie, who is gay in real life, also wanted to leave because his family is based in London. He added: “I’ve got two small kids and wanted to see more of them.”

“Who knows what might happen in the future?”
