Coronation Street will not be investigated by Ofcom over a half-naked gay embrace it showed last week. The ITV soap aired the kiss - between Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) and Marcus Dent (Charlie Condou) - before the 9pm watershed. Broadcasting regulator Ofcom received over 100 complaints about the scene. An Ofcom spokesperson said: "Ofcom can confirm that it is not investigating the scene in Coronation Street as it was not in breach of generally accepted standards. "Our rules do not discriminate between scenes involving opposite sex and same sex couples." The episode saw Todd finally seduce Marcus after pursuing him for weeks. The pair were seen heading into the bedroom after kissing on the sofa.

Meanwhile, Condou is to leave Coronation Street and will finish filming in early summer.

Coronation Street (U.K.)
So Marcus and Todd finally slept together last week. But as I've said before, the buildup has been terrible. While Marcus did make the first move and he did suggest he and Todd go upstairs to have sex, how was he feeling? Why did he show up at Todd’s to begin with? Was he jealous about Todd’s supposed new man? Was he glad to realize that Todd wanted him? I’m not sure. I just don’t think the show is doing a good job of showing how anyone is feeling. The scenes are just being played out without little emotion or motivation.

We should have seen more of what brought Marcus to that moment, his struggle with his attraction to Todd versus his love for Maria. It just wasn’t there on screen or at least the show didn’t do a good enough job depicting it. And I still don’t think they have much chemistry, including the intimate moments. I just think this could be a much better story if the show had of bothered to spend more time on the setup and if the actors, who are both talented and playing interesting characters, clicked on screen.
I did like the final scene between and Marcus and Todd though where Marcus threatened Todd to keep quiet about their tryst. It might be the only time I saw some real emotion and some real passion between the two characters.
